The 2008 Australian Hillclimb Championship has been run and won. Congratulations to Gary West. The event enjoyed a FULL feild of entries.

I have been informed that the final result after Sundays competition is:

Gary West 1st

Andrew Howell 2nd

Peter Gumley 3rd

This is unofficial and I will not be in a position to post offical results for a few days.

A report from a spectator at the track has informed me that at the end of Saturdays afforts the front runners for the outright win were:

Andrew Howell

Peter Gumley

Gary West

I am told the difference in Saturdays times between these three lads is VERY small. Rain interupted play on the mountain for a little while and I am told that the start line is very slippery this year "Much less grip on the start line this year compared to the last Australian Championships at the mountain" was one competitors coments.

Andrew Howell had a problem with his gearshift that he was able to repair. The team supporting Gary West had a job to replace a failed cam follower. Tom Donovan had a small problem with the Pilbeam that was not going to be easy/fast to fix and so he has swapped vehicles. I understand from my spectator source that one machine has "Lunched" the engine with a conecting rod exiting the block.

All in all it sounds like the 2008 Austrlian Hillclimb Championship is yet again one hell of an event. I wish I was there.
